Vacation Time

I'm visiting my sisters in southern Indiana while Hubby stays home to work and watch the dog. One sister is doing a quilt retreat so the little sister is quilting too while I scrapbook. It is hot down here in Indiana but we are having fun. Little sister and I took our dad to lunch at local Mexican place. The little brother will meet the 3 of us sisters for lunch at the Irish place. Retreat for 18 quilters and 2 scrapbookers starts Sunday and runs through Tuesday. Another brother is suppose to meet us at the Retreat for lunch but he is presently not feeling well. School starts way too soon for me so I am packing lots of fun in the next 2 weeks and still finish my scrapbook room. It is about 1/2 done.

Wedding card

I don't make a wedding card very often but the Hubby needed one for a coworker. So, I found this glittery silver paper by Making Memories in the special papers cube and made a card. I matted the silver glitter on a soft gray then black. The wedding cake is a Jolee's that I matted on the soft gray paper. I added some pearls to the upper corners and silver thread at the top and lace with pearls across the bottom. I stamped the sentiment "May all your dreams come true" on the inside. I think Hubby liked it but he took it to work.

OWH sketch #79

Here's the new sketch. I have a bunch of strips of paper from another project.
I wonder if they'll work here. Time to get out the adhesive and trimmer and create!

Last of the OWH Christmas in July box

I have the box shut!! That's it. No more can fit in the box.
I got 357 cards plus 9 Any Hero cards in the box this time.

I found the stamp in Joann's $1.00 bin and embossed it with limey green embossed powder. I matted the embossed image on copper and then silver paper. Before mounting the image on the two papers, I punched out circles for the coins. The Big Bucks paper was in the clearance at Joann's.

The cutie image is from Create with TLC, http://createwithtlc-createwithtlc.blogspot.com/ . The rose paper was doubled sided with the red lattice. I got one sheet of it at Archiver's but I don't remember the name of the paper. The sentiment I did on my computer.

Need Help with Blogger

I see cute badges on the side of other blogs. Does anyone know how to that on Blogger?? I was going to put the badge for OWH on the side but I can't find it in Blogger. I found gadgets but they don't seem to be the same as a badge. Thanks.

This is what I'm trying to put on a side bar.

Yeah, Table 7 was all back at Archivers

It was so wonderful to have everyone back together at Table 7 at Easton's Archiver's. There are 6 of us who get together just about every Friday night at Archiver's and Table 7 is our table. Throughout the summer, it has been 2 or 3 of us at a time. One night I had the whole table to myself!! But everyone was back last night from the beach, or Mom's house, or wherever. Lots of chatting and catching up going on last night. We even moved Table 8 right next to Table 7 and the 6 of us spread out over 8 spots. We had salad for dinner then enjoyed dark chocolate caramels from Trader Joe's and tootsie rolls and fruit the rest of the night.

I worked on Christmas cards for OWH box and got 3 designs done. I thought I was ready to mail the Christmas in July box to OWH this week but it was not 1/2 holiday and 1/2 general cards yet. I used some paper from an old DCWV stack that was for a snow scrapbook and some of the paper came from a Christmas stack.

I used a snowflake punch (Oriental Trading Co. on the box) I bought at the Flower Factory, that is in central Columbus area. I also used a Martha Stewart snowman punch. I saw the sentiment online and typed it on my computer using Christmas Card font. I mounted it on a piece of shiny copper paper from Hollo's Paper Craft (http://www.hollospapercraft.net) but my scanner definitely didn't like that paper. My paper trimmer didn't like the copper paper either as it was marking the copper paper as I cut in smaller rectangles. I flipped the paper over and cut on the white backing and the copper was fine. I couldn't see on the trimmer to mark the copper. It was almost like a score line on the copper paper if I cut with the copper side up.

Hollo's Paper Craft is the place I get my envelopes and some paper. They have a room filled with lots of colors and sizes of envelopes and paper. I can't go there very often as I bring home so much paper in all sizes. I get 3x5 pieces a lot and also business cards size paper for sentiments and images. They sell 12x12 and 8x11 paper in lots of colors and textures by the pound. They have a room of wedding invitations and other paper needs. However, it is a 2 hour trip up there so I don't go very often.

Striped paper from Christmas stack, sentiment from free digi, gold ribbon, and red pearls. I printed the sentiment bigger than I wanted so it was the only thing to fit on the card.

I Cuttlebugged the white paper using a snowflake embossing folder, and then used a Sizzix die cut for the Joy. Paper from the Christmas stash. I used more of the copper paper too.

Here's one card I did a week or so ago but I hadn't put them on the card base yet. I Cuttlebugged the purple Dotted Swiss embossing folder, used a Martha Stewart border punch on the white paper and stamped the sentiment in purple chalk ink. The shiny green and purple design was a find at the clearance bin at Michael's. Of course, I could only find one set of the colorful designs.

Update on my scrapbook room.
I got the walls painted twice. Hubby now thinks the ceiling needs painted. Hmmm. The debate is under review at the moment. But I need him to fix a shelf unit before I move stuff into the room and to get rid of another shelf unit (ugly gray metal). Plus I have move a table from the basement to the  room on the second floor.

A Few More for the OWH box

I found this coloring page online and printed it smaller on green paper. Then I printed the hat on white paper and colored the red part. I Cuttlebugged the red background paper and the green plaid.

Cinderella paper was on clearance at Cord Camera and the sentiment on clearance at Michael's. A bit of lace from the sewing stuff in the basement. I used the OWH sketch of the week (#78).

I found the die cut at Joann's. They are on pale yellow paper with embossed swirls but the scanner didn't like the yellow. A simple card using sketch #78 from OWH.

Changes Going On

I'm redoing one of my sons' bedroom for my scrapbook room. Hubby didn't like the idea of Cricut green walls. I got a pale green - Chilled Mint - to use instead. I saw a Cricut green rug at Meijer's and curtains too but I want to get the room done before I buy that stuff. I had to pack up a bunch of books and such to move the furniture around from the walls. The closet is now half full of his stuff but the room is empty now. I got the wallpaper borders off the walls and need to go back over it to get the tiny pieces off the walls. I have a few holes to fill but hopefully I can start painting tomorrow. I want to get everything done so I can move my supplies from all the other rooms of the house over the weekend.

I'll post a few cards soon as I have 2 or 3 designs almost done. Plus I need to finish stamping and tucking a box of cards to OWH.

Weekly Sketch Challenge from OWH

New sketch challenge from OWH. I'm thinking what I'll do with it. The hearts on the sketch don't have to be hearts. Three bears maybe??

Week of cards

I made this Birthday card last night while I was cropping at Archivers. I had stamped the images a while back and they resurfaced last night. I found the starry night paper at a going-out-of-business LSS. I used Fiskars 2 sizes of star punches on the 2 yellows. I used a clear glaze pen on the stars and the package.

One of my Christmas cards for OWH. The Lustre Evergreen and the green with the holiday sentiments papers were on clearance at Joann's and I found the stickers on clearance at Tuesday Morning. Some of the cards have a little tree brads while a few has 2 tiny round head brads. (Of course, I ran out of trees.)

This vintage image and sentiment are from Create with TLC. I love this Santa. The papers are from the Christmas Combo stack by DCWV. This card are a gold ribbon bow on it but I used a burgundy ribbon bow on others. Brittani at Archivers got a big giggle from this card. My gf were not cropping with me last night. I had the whole table to myself but then I didn't have anyone to approve the protypes as I created the cards so the employees of Archivers had to give the seal of approval on the designs. Hopefully the gf will be back from vacation soon.

OWH had challenges during 4th of July weekend. One challenge was to use a photo to create a card. My gf goes to the beach every summer and takes lots of great photos. She had scrapped the photos she wanted and she was going to toss the extras. I asked her for them and made them into cards for her birthday in July. I made 12 notecards with different photos but the same saying. The shell above the saying is a Sticko. I put a piece of paper that looks like sand behind the photo and matted the photo and saying with Bazzill cocoa paper from Archivers. Hopefully, my gf will like the set of beach notecards.
There were 3 photos I couldn't crop enough to fit on an A2 card.

Speaking of Archivers, here is the latest coupons. They are going from 30% to only 25% but it saves you a little bit.

I got my Cuttlebug out and embossed lots of paper for future cards and cut out a few words for other cards. I got some stamps (yeah, real stamps and ink) out to stamp some sayings to have on hand. I was busy most of the week working on cards but they are mostly still parts for future cards. Some of the card ideas has to "back burner" for a bit before I can make it. I did get to Joann/Michaels/Hobby Lobby this week and got more supplies like adhesives, stickers and a couple of new stamps. I had to go back to J's and M's today for a couple more things before the coupons expired. : )

I did manage to remember to mail 2 birthday cards to my little brother and sister today. Tomorrow I need to make a another birthday card and make a wedding card. I don't make many wedding cards but the hubby is requesting one for a coworker. Plus I need about 15 more Christmas cards for my OWH box for the  half Christmas/half general challenge. The box has about 250 cards in it but I must have used more pop dots than usual as the box seems fuller.

cards for guys

I found a couple of free digi stamps from Melonheadz (http://createwithtlc-createwithtlc.blogspot.com/) and Create with TLC (http://createwithtlc-createwithtlc.blogspot.com/)  that I used on these cards.

When I do this card again, I'll get my inks out and distress the edges a bit.
I did the sentiment on my computer.

My hubby was impressed with the silver paper. He wondered how much I had paid for it. It is really silver paper I ran through a Cuttlebug folder. I had used it on another project but I had embossed a bunch of the silver paper. I just finally found a great use for all of it. The striped paper has been in the stash for a bit too.

a couple of Halloween cards for the box and my new ATG

Just a couple of easy Halloween cards for the next box to OWH. The circular dimensional sticker was from Michael's and the paper is little bats with candy corn hats.

Someone gave me this striped paper and the monster was another sheet of paper with a bunch of monsters I cut out for more cards. Just a little Sticko sticker for the saying.

I am learning to use the ATG. It is pretty sticky stuff. I have  to remember to be sure that the item is going on the card permanently as you can't move after it is stuck down with the ATG tape.I have put together about 50 cards this morning and haven't emptied the first roll of tape yet.

New ATG

I bought the pink ATG at Joanne's today as it was 40% off and the refills were on sale too. I like my little pink  Glue Arts gun but it seems to run out fast. I was getting the refills at Memory Making Crafts for $5/refill but I'm out of them already and just ordered the refills. I found general purpose refills for the ATG at Michael's and used my Joanne's coupon. The general purpose was about $4.00 cheaper so hopefully it will work for my OWH cards. I try the two types out and see which works better. Maybe I'll tell my hubby and he can figure which gun's refills is the better buy. Off to experiment with the new toy!

Checking email can be fun

I had sent in some cards to Operation We R Grateful last week.  I got an email today from Bonnie Randall from We R Grateful that I won a prize!! Yeah!! I never win prizes. So fun!

Thanks, We R Memory Keepers!! But really, thanks goes to We R Memory Keepers for supporting heroes and OWH.

New Cards for Tuesday

Today, I was cleaning off the table from the weekend Challenge CardMaking. Instead, I ended up cleaning out a scrap bag of this and that.

At a store closing, I bought a bag of scrap and it had this cute birdhouse so I made a few more birdhouses and free-handed the  tree branch. The sticker "You Made My Day" was from a set of EK Success Sticko stickers I found in a clearance bin. The tiny birds are from a scrap of paper. The very light green paper doesn't show up very well on my scan but it is Bazzill paper.

More scrap papers and items from the scrap bag. The Bazzill Swiss Dot pink heart and saying must've been left over from a class as I had enough of them to make about 10. More very little green Bazzill paper, the little bird paper, pink ribbon complete the card. Yeah!

More of the yellow small dot paper I bought at Tuesday Morning. I used my new small size circle scallop and glue-dotted a flower to it. The cute little saying is from the Jillian Vance set I have been using. I punched the card's edge with a Martha Stewart punch.

Needless to say, the table is still messy but the scrap bag only has some teeny-tiny pieces that might be destined for the recycling bin. Hmmmm.

Thanks

Wow, thanks for all the comments!!

My first blog attempt, my first challenge, lots of cards made and a few loads of laundry in addition to the parade and fireworks. It was a Great Weekend!!!! Tomorrow back to a Tuesday that will feel like a Monday. : )

Last of the Challenge Cards before Midnight Arrives

This blue kitty is for Challenge #14 Color me Crazy. This challenge was hard to go against the norm. I mean, cats are not really blue.

Challenge #12 was something Foody or Fruity Card. I had the tiny sentiments in a Jillian Vance set and found the cherries in the paper stash. I found other fruits (grapes, apples, pears) that I'll make another day. Plus I have a new set of chocolate stamps from Stampin' Up that I haven't used yet.

The last card I entered was the pinwheel for Challenge # 11 Pinwheel. Super easy pinwheel to make and I like the bit of dimension the folding gives the card. Rather spring colors but again I was using the bits and pieces from the scrap stash. I used green stickles and silver pearls drops from Ranger on the card. It was fun to see little kids at the fireworks tonight blowing the real pinwheels to make them spin.

I got 13 out of the 16 Challenges done on this holiday weekend. I'm rather proud of that since I've never done any Challenges before.  I still want to go back and complete the remaining 3 Challenges, which will keep me awake through the night as I plot them out.

Another Challenge completed

Here's my Subway Art Summer Memories for Challenge #7! OF course it is a Fourth of July card so I'll have to save it for a bit. : )

Another version of my sheep card for Challenge #15 Play on Words.

Favorite bear card for Challenge #13

My entry for Scrappin Bears Challange # 13. My favorite bear stamp and saying!! I don't think I did the link thing right that this card is my entry for the challenge but I like this one. I did it in yellow too which is very bright but it didn't scan well. The papers are scraps from another project a friend did.

OWH Fourth of July Virtual Cardmaking Challenge

I haven't entered any challenges before and decided to try a few from OWH Fourth of July Virtual Cardmaking Challenge. I have spent the past 2 days making cards because you can't just make one card per design. My shipper will be happy when the box finally gets packed up and sent next week. There are a few more challenges I would like to do but no more time today. I did complete 9 challenges out of the 16 so I did OK. A few more ideas are still churning in my head for more cards based on the challenges I didn't do, like Sandy's 2 season challenge. Plus I did 3 cards for one challenge (Scrappin Bears!, which is my new favorite blog). Thanks for the challenge. It was fun thought my hubby wondered what I was doing all day. (Hey, I made meals and did some laundry between card making.) Plus I had to start a blog so I could do the linky thing, always something new to learn.

Thanks for looking at my cards!!

Two versions of the Challenge #9 Easy as 1, 2, 3. I started with the yellow flowers and had more images so I used the pink gingham paper.

I used the photo from the blog to made this card for Challenge # 8. Stars and Stripes paper with the photo and the sentiment, which I popped up the word Heart in red.

shin

Challenge #2 Underwater. I hand-cut the fish bowl and used the shiny paper Blue Bubbles by Hot Off the Press for the water. I used Ranger's Liquid Pearls for the heart.

Challenge #6 Howl at the moon. Just stars and the moon in this card.

Challenge #15 at Stamping with a Mission. I found this cute sheep at Melonheadz and had to use for the card. The sentiment is from Jillian Vance set of stamps.

Challenge #5 Vintage at Holley's Hobbies was a challenge for me as I don't do a lot in vintage.

Challenge #4 at Our Little Inspirations. A simple card with papers from Paper Studio and a couple of digi stamps. By the way, the hubby helped with the coloring of the digi eagle.

Here's another entry for Challenge # 13 at Sprappin Bears. Love this little sailor bear digi from MelJen.

For Challenge #16 at Mouseprint Creations, I did this simple digi stamp card.

Here's another entry for Challenge # 13 at Sprappin Bears. Yup, I love bears too, although this card is looking at bears in a slightly different way. Elvis is another Melonheadz digi stamps with my sentiment.
