It's a lazy Sunday

My son and his girlfriend came over for lunch of grilled burgers and brats, potato salad, and more plus bite size brownies. Yum. We are watching a bit of the Games and the Brickyard.

I did get a call from Easton Archiver's store manager a bit ago. My page at Archiver's is one of the store's 3 finalists and the manager called to say she was packing it up to go to ScrapFest, which is Sept. 14-16!! Yeah!! At the home office, they'll pick a winner from the store's 3 finalists and then they'll pick a winner from the top winners of all the stores. I'm just excited that my page got picked!! Since I have been out of town a while, I didn't see the other entries at Easton Archiver's.

Sketch #131

I am running behind due to my vacation so I don't have a card for this new sketch #131 or last week's #130. MUST WORK faster this week!! Here's this week's sketch #131. Plus I have to stamp and tuck my box of cards for the card drive and school is starting way toooooo soooon.

Thanks for stopping by. Later.

Sketch #130

Sketch #130

Here's the latest OWH sketch. I don't have a card made yet with this sketch as I have been traveling to Vermont and back for a week. I plan to use the Riley parade stamp and bunting. I had tried to put a new post on this blog but the wilds of Vermont doesn't like new technology. The WiFi worked but it won't allow me to post. Of course, my cell phone rarely got a signal when I was in VT, ME, and NH, much to the hubby's chagrin.

The younger siblings had a milestone birthday and the siblings minus one were there to celebrate. Then my older sister and I stayed a bit longer and toured around a bit, traveling up to Maine and New Hampshire. Our hubbies are both happy we are finally home. My older sister and I visited 2-3 quilt stores, buying fabrics for some future quilts or her stash. Unfortunately, I didn't find any scrapbook stores, having to buy some items on sale at WalMart and Joann's. I believe that the bigger stores have carried scrapbook supplies till finally the LSS went out, now the bigger stores are clearancing more of their scrapbook areas. grrrr. It is hard to find papers of places or milestones at the bigger stores. They have to carry the same things in every store. However, I did just place an order for a variety of travel papers online, as I couldn't find any VT, ME, NH, and NY papers/stickers around here. I love to go to a LSS in Michigan but I am done traveling for about a week. If you are in the Detroit area, stop by Scrappy Chic in Livonia, http://scrappychiclivonia.com/ which is a great store with a wonderful travel section. I should go down to Red Letter Journals in Grove City http://www.redletterjournals.com/ as it is one of the last LSS in the area and it used to have a great travel section too. Hmm, maybe on Monday.

I'll be back later with a card using the latest sketch. Hopefully, before OWH posts another sketch.

Thanks for stopping by. Later.

My One Page Layout Entry

So, Archiver's is having a contest in each store. I took my entry down this afternoon to the Archiver's at Easton. Archiver's has the contest annually to get people pumped up about ScrapFest in the fall in the Mall of America. I have never had an entry before but I decided to do it this year. Archiver's is celebrating 10 years of business so your entry had to have 10 of something on the entry.

My entry celebrates all the Friday nights I spend at Archiver's, cropping with friends at Table 7. I have titled the page "10 Things Required for Scrapbook Friday Night at Archiver's". It has 10 wallet sized photos and 10 buttons. I used Bo Bunny Press Mama-razzi Collection, which included 3 papers, 3-D and chipboard stickers, and buttons. The photos include my Table 7 scrapbook friends,  Shutterfly package, a happy Archiver employee, an Art Impressions stamp, and more. If you are at Archiver's in Easton between July 21-26, 2012, please stop and vote for my entry!! Thanks!

Here's one of the journal blocks I put on the entry.

I always tell people that they can find me almost
every Friday night atArchiver’s Table 7. I try to leave work on time on
Fridays so I can get to Archiver’s to scrapbook
or make cards. Sometimes I get lots of layouts
or cards done. Sometimes, I get a lot of chatting
and shopping and eating done. Whatever I create
or do at Archiver’s makes life good.

Archiver's has always felt like my "Cheers", the TV show about a bar in Boston, where everyone knows your name.

Cue "Cheers" theme song!

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.

You wanna go where people know,
people are all the same,
You wanna go where everybody knows
your name.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Later!!

Monday's Sketches

It is Monday and while I should be doing laundry, bills, and errands, it was a lot more fun to make cards!

Sketch #129

The Sketch of the week was an easy one for me. I made two versions of it.

Version One is a one of a kind card. I had pieces from scrapbook night in the crop bag. The sticker from Hobby Lobby fit quite nicely after I matted it. I free-hand some hearts out of another scrap. I turned the sketch around a bit.

Version Two is made from DCWV's spring fling/summer time stack, pink cardstock, and Making Memories' lace paper (from Ollie's). I generated the sentiment on the computer some time ago so I don't know what font I used. I added a few rhinestone flowers to the card for a bit of jazz. I made a few then I still had a few pieces left so I made a few more. I think I finally did about 30 cards for OWH and me.

Sketch #59

Arrrggghh, Mateys!  I made the pirate card below, using Sketch #59 above. I had to turn the design a bit to fit on the paper so that the words of the paper are readable. I added the brown strips with white dots, more of the strips I bought at the LSS going out of business. The owner had saved the price strip so I have a bunch of them. They work pretty good as ribbon. I got the ship from the free digi stamps site. I generated another sentiment from my computer, using Blackadder font. Archiver's had the pirate hats on sale. I wish I had bought more than one package. I made more cards than I have hats for so I will have to look in my brads for more pirate items.

Thanks for stopping by. Later. I guess I go complete my chores now.

Sketch #5 for Wednesday

I did a patriotic version of the Sketch. I used another Dearie Dolls, red and blue starry paper from the stash, and a stamp I bought at a garage sale. I used my ribbon cutter by Imaginisce to cut the red, white, and blue ribbon and a EKSuccess punch for the sentiment.

I added the raffia to the card. The raffia at Joann's is a bit green in color, not the typical little brown. The raffia matched the card fairly well. I wonder if the raffia will lose the green color after time.

Tuesday Two

I got 2 more sketches completed for today Tuesday. I am making some headway with the challenge of making cards using the 128+ OWH sketches but I'm not completing them as quickly as I thought I would. But I am making 12-30 cards per sketch as I complete each sketch so I am going the OWH box filled up. I am also using some of my paper stash and a variety of adhesives out of the storage box. I am also finding new freebie digi stamps to use as well as my own stored stamps. I am having a fun summer making the cards.

I have been doing the Sketches in no particular order. I can't get my computer to allow me to check the sketches on the PGF checklist so I had to print it off to keep track of the sketches I have used.

Sketch #15

Here is the Sketch #15.

I used the Fiskars stitches border on this sketch. I ordered the border online from Joann's. I had some problems with the punch not releasing the paper after punching. Punches don't seem to like me as they do this frequently. I wish I know why the punches capture the paper like that and how to stop the punches from doing this. The foil and the wax paper don't seem to help and this particular punch is new.

My pieces for the card, using Sketch #15. I drew the Sketch on the back of one of the pieces so I could refer to the sketch often as I worked.

My completed card designed from Sketch #15. The papers are from DCWV's 2012 Summer Stack and I punched them with the stitches boarder punch from Fiskars. The cute little girl is from Dearie Dolls at deariedollsdigis.blog.com. She had a cute Pirate Pig freebie today in colored and black-and-white versions. The card I did needs something else so I think I'll go back and add a bit of raffia to go with the "wings" of the girl. Or maybe buttons. Hmmm.

Sketch #14

I used Sketch #14, using with the Ballerina Bunny, another Dearie Dolls freebies.  I had printed the bunny too big the first time and the sentiment wouldn't fit with it. So the bigger size one will be on a card later. I used a variety of purple papers from my stash. The little sentiment "Gettin' My Happy Dance On" is from Create With TLC at http://createwithtlc-createwithtlc.blogspot.com/, where she posts a freebie or 2 daily.

I followed the Sketch but again I think the card needs a bit of something. Maybe ribbon bows??

Thanks for stopping by. Later.

Summertime Monday Sketches

Two more OWH Sketches are done!! The digi stamps are from Dearie Dolls  at deariedollsdigis.blog.com . The freebies are soooo cute.

Sketch #33

The pretty little girl in the birthday cake has pink and green so I used papers to go with the freebie digi. The floral paper is from the girl This & That by Echo Park and the green paper is canvas texture paper by Core'dinations. I love these little flowers with the bling centers. The sentiment is from Dear Lizzie & American Crafts I found at Big Lots.

Sketch #42

Here's the Sketch and my version. I used 2 yellow patterned and 2 green patterned papers from my stash. This little girl is called my favorite things. So I computer-generated a sentiment in green ink. I added lime green pearls along the side to add a bit. I inked the edges of the girl. The card needs some pop dots but they were not in a handy spot.

Thanks for looking. Later.

Must be Sunday

It must be Sunday since OWH has a new sketch on its blog.
Sketch # 128 had 5 embellishments and 3 strips of paper.

I was able to use some images I had made at Table 7. The patterned paper is from last year's DCWV Summer Stack and some swiss-dotted Brazzil paper. The little butterflies are embossed with the sparkle embossing powder. The sentiment is from a Unity Stamps stamp set of 5 sentiments but I can't remember the name of the set. I placed the design on a little blue cardstock. I think I'll go back and add some pearl drops to the tiny flowers and the butterfly on the sentiment. I have a few more cards to finish because I ran out of the butterflies.

Thanks stopping by. Later.

OWH Card Drive

Hmmm, I wonder if I can get another box in the mail for this card drive??
I am usually just a little late to enter these. I think I do have some Christmas to mail though. I made them in Jan.and Feb. but my boxes have been so stuffed that they wouldn't fit in any boxes.

2 More Sketches

I used 2 more sketches this morning to make some cards before going to my dentist appt. (hate going to the dentist) and running some errands.

Sketches #38 and #84

I used a mat stack for the cards and surprisingly got lots of cards made. Since the mat stack was coordinated, it was easy to put the cards together. I had saved a few digi freebies from Melonheadz at http://melonheadzillustrating.blogspot.com/. She has a new look to her blog and it is fun and sparkly!!! She has had a cute parade of ants the last few days for the daily freebies. Here's the sketch and the card for #38.

And here's #84. I used paper behind the images and put a bow at the top of the image.

Now to stamp and tuck the cards. I need to put another box together so
they will be ready to ship later in the month.

Thanks for stopping by.

4th of July

I think I have mentioned it before but I love a parade. (cue song "I Love a Parade"). I went to see our local parade at 1 PM. OK, I was running behind so I missed the very first part of the parade. It was very hot!! I did find a spot in the shade and took a lot of photos. I have posted some of those photos today instead of cards today. I did mail a box to OWH and a package to We R Memory Keepers yesterday though. Hopefully, I sent them in time for the challenges.

Anyway, here's a few parade photos.

Wow!! The cards on the first blog hop with OWH and OSH are fabulous!! All are terrific! So much creativity in the two organizations. I'm so in awe of these talented card makers. I have made a file for all the new sketches so I can make them later. The bloghop is open till July 7 so be sure to leave comments for the bloggers and you'll have a chance to win a blog prize. The Danes have added an English version to their blogs (or Google will translate). I have hopped to all the bloggers and added several of the blogs to my reader. I'll be back to the bloghop later to review the fancier cards.

Thanks for stopping.

Sketch # 21

I have been straightening up my craft room as some items have jumped into the wrong places and other items have been hiding in plain sight. I found this image buried under a bunch of big scraps and had about 12 of them from an Archiver's Make and Take from a while ago. The lacy flower has yellow Flower Soft. I have some of  Flower Soft and haven't used it much. The image's size suggested the sketch. I layered the image a lime-green to make the image fit the sketch's measurements and then cut the almost-squares of another green. I arranged the pieces on a third green. I used some of my baker's twine, which is my new favorite supply. This sketch was fairly easy to do. I would like to make some baby cards to make the card look like a baby quilt. I think the sketch would make a great Christmas card, using the design as a window.

Here's the Sketch #21 and the card I made. Into the OWH box they go!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. More sketches to do!! Later.
